The Shard: A Timelapse Study

Architectural photographer Paul Raftery, and Dan Lowe, director, have collaborated to create a timelapse film showing the final weeks of construction of The Shard tower in London Bridge, the tallest skyscraper in the United Kingdom.

It was shot over many long days during the early months of 2012, from locations spanning from Greenwich Park to Hampstead Heath. DSLR’s were used to photograph thousands of still images, which were then compiled into movies and edited together to create the film. They decided to use an interesting composition concept by placing the Shard in the precise centre of every frame, drawing the eye to the structures impact on the landscape.
