The Terraced Town Hall is envisioned as a symbol of local resources and the surrounding character of the town of Owego in upstate New York. As a second year comprehensive design project under Professor Dana Cupkova, the team sought to create a civic center to serve this small American town. Heavy timber boxes shift their way up a terraced landscape to form a town hall that cantilevers grandly over the Susquehanna River. The Terrace Town Hall greets the street on one side and the river on the other, forming a new, porous, connection between the two and creating a texture that undulates like its natural surroundings.
